#PrideMonth

*disclaimer, if you can’t stand LGBT+ Dont read this*

“Peace cannot be kept by force; it can only be achieved by understanding…Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” -Martin Luther King Jr

If you know me, you know that I’m not afraid to let my voice be heard. So, as you officially meet me for the first time I would like to introduce myself.

Hi, I’m Lynn. I am a college student who is still traveling the beaten path of who I want to be. In celebration of June (aka Pride Month) I would like to say that I am… Me. I’m not gay, but I’m not straight. I don’t really have a label aside from: I like who I like.

As being a part of the LGBT+ community, I am passionate about equality and will let it be known that if you say something bigoted, I will say something back.

Now, before I get comments about religion and things like that, I will say that I am a Christian. No, not one of those “Christians” you hear about on social media. I mean an actual, Church of Christ Christian. So, as a LGBT+ Christian, I deal with flack every single day. I struggle with my identity in this situation, but I practice what I preach and stand up for what I believe in.

My point is, religious or not, cisgender or transgender, gay or straight- love one another. Fighting fire with fire creates a bigger fire that burns everyone, so instead fight with love. Cool down the hate and show that there will always be light in the world. Be the change you want to see in the world and, of course, be the baddest bitch you can be!

Happy Pride Month!

-Lynn

P.S. Every week there will be an interview I’ve done with an individual in accordance with Pride Month.
